Full Details
Shibui Chair combines everyday versatility with the detail of a standalone furniture piece. It works around a dining table or alongside the Shibui Footstool as a place to sit and pause.
Traditional timber joints give depth and definition to the frame, while a handwoven Danish cord seat introduces a softer texture and natural contrast. The design pays homage to furniture maker George Nakashima, with an emphasis on material, proportion and visible craftsmanship.
Made by hand, each chair brings together the individual grain of the timber and the rhythm of the woven seat. Choose a timber to complement your table or let the chair stand on its own.

Material
Available in Ash, Oak and Walnut. The handwoven Danish cord is made from FSC responsibly sourced paper.
Natural differences in grain and colour are part of the character of timber, so each piece will have its own appearance. Please discuss your preferred timber and finish when enquiring.
Longevity
Made to be used and cared for over time. Dust with a soft cloth, wipe up spills promptly and protect surfaces from hot items and prolonged moisture. Keep timber away from direct heat and sustained strong sunlight.
Timber naturally responds to its surroundings. Please ask for care advice suited to your chosen finish before using oils, polishes or cleaning products.
Treat woven cord gently and avoid soaking it. Ask for advice before attempting stain removal or repairs.
Environment
Our timber is sourced from a supplier with FSC® and PEFC chain-of-custody certification, whose approach includes careful material use and the recovery and reuse of timber waste.
The Danish cord used in this piece is made from FSC responsibly sourced paper.
