ABOUT

WELCOME TO KILLE DESIGN

Kille design was built on the belief that all aspects of woodworking should be thoughtfully designed and beautifully crafted.

I believe in making items of timeless design and heirloom quality, using traditional and contemporary methods.

About Me

I probably didn’t have the most conventional start to my woodworking journey. I arually studied Carpentry and Joinery whilst serving in the British Commando Forces. Although I loved my time serving I quickly realised that I woodworking was my true calling and have been obsessed ever since. I left the commandos and spent year traveling around the world learning and picking the brain of exceptional creative.

I have dedicated my life to this craft and craftmanship which I believe has given me the ability to offer a unique service of being highly proficient in Furniture making, Joinery, Carpentry and Fitting. Having an intrinsic understanding of each skill I feel is beneficial and relatable to the other.

My Influence /Style

I have always loved design. Be it architecture, art or anything in-between.

I’m passionate about Mid Century design and try to incorporate elements of this era into my freestanding furniture especially, however I’m equally enthusiastic about Japanese/Scandinavian interiors, which focusses so much on the materials used, craftsmanship and the clean effortlessness of it (although a great deal of skill is used to accomplish this look)

Last but now least is traditional English cabinetry. Its so beautifully elegant when executed well, with the subtle use of mouldings and hand painted finish.

Location

I’m based near the picturesque, historic coastal town of Rye, East Sussex. I cover most of the South east (project dependant)

The Logo

You may have noticed that I love traditional woodworking joints and there are none much more beautiful than a split wedge tenon. Most often used in attaching legs to a base/ seat. See below an image of my Shibui stool for referrece
