1. Our Process

For bespoke furniture and joinery projects, our usual process is:

Enquiry → Consultation → Initial Design → Quote → Design Confirmation → 70% Deposit → Manufacture → Delivery / Installation → 30% Final Payment

The exact scope, specification, price and estimated timescale of your project will be detailed in your quote or invoice.

Our furniture collection is also made to order. While these pieces are based on existing Kille designs, they are manufactured specifically for each order.

2. Quotes & Orders

Quotes are based on the information, measurements and requirements provided at the time of enquiry and consultation.

Your order is confirmed once the final design or specification has been agreed and the 70% deposit has been received.

Please check all dimensions, materials, finishes and other details carefully before confirming your order.

Any changes requested after confirmation may result in additional design, material or manufacturing costs. We will make you aware of any significant additional costs before carrying out the changes.

3. Payment

Unless otherwise agreed in writing, a 70% deposit is required before manufacture begins.

The remaining 30% balance is payable in accordance with the terms stated on your quote or invoice.

Work will not normally begin until the required deposit has been received.

Any additional work or changes requested outside the agreed scope may be invoiced separately.

4. Cancellations & Made-to-Order Items

Our furniture is made to order and many of our projects are made specifically to a customer's dimensions, requirements or design.

Where an item is bespoke, made-to-measure, personalised or otherwise made to your specification, statutory cancellation rights that apply to standard online purchases may not apply.

Once manufacture has begun, deposits and payments relating to work already undertaken, materials ordered or other costs incurred may not be refundable.

If you need to cancel or change an order, please contact us as soon as possible at hello@killedesign.co.uk.

Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights.

5. Lead Times

All lead times and completion dates are estimates unless expressly agreed otherwise in writing.

As our furniture and joinery are made individually, timings can occasionally be affected by material availability, manufacturing requirements, third-party suppliers, couriers or circumstances outside our reasonable control.

If there is a significant change to the expected completion date, we will let you know as soon as reasonably possible.

6. Delivery

Depending on the size and nature of your order, furniture may be delivered by Kille or by a third-party courier.

Any delivery arrangements and applicable costs will be agreed as part of your order.

You are responsible for ensuring there is suitable access for delivery. Please consider doorways, corridors, staircases, lifts and any other restrictions the furniture will need to pass through.

If you are unsure whether an item will fit, please tell us before manufacture begins.

Additional costs resulting from incorrect access information, failed delivery or alterations required because an item cannot access the intended space may be charged separately where appropriate.

7. Installation & Work in Your Home

Where installation or fitting is included, you must provide reasonable and safe access to the property and working area at the agreed time.

Please make us aware in advance of anything that may affect installation, including access restrictions, concealed services, unusual wall or floor construction, listed-building requirements or other relevant property conditions.

Where furniture or joinery is to be fixed to walls, floors or other structures, the property must be suitable for the proposed installation.

Kille will take reasonable care while working within your property.

Any additional work that becomes necessary because of previously unknown site conditions or information not provided before installation will be discussed with you and may be charged separately.

8. Solid Wood & Natural Materials

Natural variation is part of what makes each Kille piece individual.

Timber can naturally contain variations in grain, colour and texture, as well as features such as knots, small cracks or shakes and medullary rays. These are characteristics of natural timber and are not necessarily faults.

No two boards — or finished pieces — will ever be identical.

Images, samples and previous pieces should therefore be treated as a guide rather than an exact representation of the timber you will receive.

We select materials carefully and will always aim to produce a finished piece consistent with the agreed design and Kille's standard of workmanship.

9. Wood Movement

Solid wood naturally responds to its environment and may expand, contract or move as temperature and humidity change.

Furniture should not be positioned immediately beside strong heat sources such as radiators or wood burners, and additional consideration should be given to underfloor heating.

Excessively hot, dry, damp or humid environments can cause timber to move, warp or crack.

Please refer to our Care Guide for advice on looking after your furniture.

10. Dimensions

Because our furniture is handmade and often produced from solid timber, minor variations in dimensions can occur.

Where a dimension is critical — for example, where furniture must fit precisely within an alcove or architectural opening — this must be made clear during the design and consultation process.

For fitted joinery, dimensions will be determined according to the agreed design and the relevant site measurements.

11. Finishes & Colour

Timber colour and grain vary naturally, and finishes can appear different depending on the individual board, lighting and surrounding environment.

Photographs displayed online and samples supplied during the design process are therefore intended as a guide.

We will make reasonable efforts to achieve the agreed appearance, but an exact match between different pieces of timber, samples or photographs cannot be guaranteed.

12. Customer-Supplied Designs

Where we manufacture from dimensions, drawings or specifications supplied by you or by another designer, architect or third party, you are responsible for ensuring that the information supplied is accurate and suitable for its intended purpose.

We will use our experience and judgement during manufacture and will raise any obvious concerns where reasonably possible.

Changes required because of inaccurate information or alterations to a customer-supplied design may result in additional charges.

13. Care

Your furniture should be used and cared for appropriately.

Please follow the recommendations in our Care Guide, including the specific guidance for oiled and lacquered finishes.

Damage caused by misuse, inappropriate cleaning products, excessive heat or moisture, environmental conditions or alterations made by someone other than Kille may not be considered a manufacturing fault.

14. Faults or Damage

We take pride in the quality of our work and want you to be happy with your finished piece.

If you believe an item is faulty, damaged or does not match the agreed specification, please contact us as soon as possible at hello@killedesign.co.uk.

Where possible, include photographs and a description of the issue so we can assess it quickly.

Where goods or services do not meet the standards required by law, we will provide the appropriate remedy in accordance with your statutory rights.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes your rights under applicable consumer law.

15. Safety

Furniture should always be used for its intended purpose.

Where appropriate, tall furniture, shelving, cabinets and similar pieces should be securely fixed to a suitable wall or structure.

Do not climb or hang from furniture, and heavier items should generally be stored lower down to reduce the risk of furniture becoming unstable.

Where Kille is not carrying out the installation, you are responsible for ensuring appropriate fixings and installation methods are used.

16. Our Responsibility

We are responsible for losses that are a foreseeable result of us breaching these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill.

We are not responsible for losses caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control or by inaccurate information, measurements or specifications supplied by you or a third party.

We do not exclude or limit liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.

Nothing in these terms affects your statutory consumer rights.

17. Complaints

If something isn't right, please contact us so we have an opportunity to resolve it.

Complaints should be sent to hello@killedesign.co.uk and should include your name, order or project details and a description of the issue.

We will review your complaint and respond as soon as reasonably possible.

18. Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

Nothing in these terms affects any rights you have as a consumer under applicable UK law.
