Care Guide

Kille furniture is made to last. With a little care, the timber will age beautifully and develop its own character over time.

Solid wood naturally responds to changes in temperature and humidity, expanding and contracting throughout the year. Avoid placing furniture directly beside radiators, wood burners or other strong heat sources, and take extra care with underfloor heating.

Oilded Finish

Our oiled furniture is finished with Osmo Polyx®-Oil, a hardwax oil applied lightly to protect the timber while retaining its natural look and feel.

For everyday cleaning, simply wipe the surface with a soft, damp cloth. Spills should be wiped up as soon as possible, particularly liquids that may stain or mark the timber such as red wine, coffee, vinegar and lemon juice.

The finish takes approximately four weeks to fully cure, so take additional care with newly finished pieces during this period.

Avoid

  • Silicone-based spray polishes or harsh cleaning products
  • Leaving spills or standing water on the surface
  • Placing hot objects directly onto the timber - use a heatproof mat or coaster where necessary

For ongoing maintenance, we recommend Osmo Spray Cleaner for oiled and waxed surfaces.

Deep scratches or marks may require light sanding and re-oiling. If you think your piece needs refinishing, get in touch and we can advise on the best approach.

Lacquered Finish

Our lacquered furniture has a durable protective finish designed to make everyday care simple while preserving the natural character of the timber.

For regular cleaning, wipe the surface with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry afterwards. Spills should still be cleaned up promptly, particularly liquids such as red wine, coffee, vinegar and lemon juice.

Avoid

  • Abrasive cleaners, scouring pads or harsh chemicals
  • Silicone-based spray polishes
  • Leaving spills or standing water on the surface
  • Placing hot objects directly onto the timber - use a heatproof mat or coaster where necessary

Unlike an oiled finish, lacquer should not be sanded or refinished at home, as this can damage the surrounding finish and leave an uneven appearance.
